Thanks for all the valuable tips. I was considering doing some cold calling to GPs and this blog post has changed my mind - thanks for saving me the wasted time.

Hey Nitin,

Another great post, along with "The Business of Physical Therapy". There are so many things going on when you start a practice, that it's sometimes difficult to stay on course. I just wrote an article for Impact in the Feb 2010 issue, that highlights a process that I developed to help practice owners determine where to focus their efforts at any given time. The editors were kind enough to include a cut-out reference of the flowchart that I made with easy to follow decision trees. The chart helps determine the area(s) that are currently affecting your business - marketing, utilization, billing/collections, cxl/ns rates, etc.

Thanks for your continued work and interesting content!

Hi Nitin,
Great ideas! I'm going to look at taking a charge card number from patients. And your idea of implementing online payments has really got me thinking! So many people shop online, why not pay us that way?!
Thanks for the inner circle. Your information always gives me ideas for improving my practice.

We probably all implement the ideas a little bit some of the time intuitively, however it is motivating to have the ideas written down for easy reference. How much better success rates would be to have consistent and practised strategies for future referrals that may become self generating then only require monitoring to maintain the flow.
The quote from Zig Ziglar regarding achieving what you want by helping enough others to get what they want is very apt.
I intent to try harder to use the ideas until it becomes second nature.
